Myths About Acne - Five Myths About Acne That You May Not Know

There are many myths that surround the reason that acne appears on a person's face. There are many that are true, and many more that are false. Here are five acne myths that you may not know about that could have an effect on whether or not you have a clear complexion today.

The first myth is that gene causes acne. This is the one that you will hear on a regular basis. People say that oils, dirt, and other things contaminated or clog your pores to help with sin in your acne. This however is not the cause of acne. Acne has numerous causes. The main one is hormonal factors which can cause the dirt and oils within the pores to actually interact in a way that causes an acne breakout.

There is a second myth which says that acne lasts forever. This is also not true. Usually the onset of acne occurs when people are starting their hormonal walk in life. They could be entering their early teens. They can be male or female. It is the stabilization of this hormonal level which is the key to whether or not acne is allowed to persist on your face and body or not. Therefore, it does not last forever and can be started and stopped through hormone activity.

The third acne myth is that it is contagious. Acne is not contagious. It is not a transmittable disease. People have a similar thought about psoriasis. People will see people with the scabs out of psoriasis and believe that if they touch them, they will also have this skin disorder. The stabbing is actually a result of a skin epidermal problem and that is the same for acne.

The fourth myth about acne is that it is caused by eating fatty foods. Although it is possible that eating a poor diet may be a cause for whether or not you have acne, has been no proof or studies done to show that eating fatty foods will cause an acne breakout. This also goes for chocolate and sweets. It has been proven that too many sugary processed fruits or carbohydrates such as white flour and white bread will have an adverse affect on your complexion.

The fifth myth that you should have heard about is that if you wash your skin more than usual, you will improve your acne. This is actually the opposite. If you use many different cleansers on your face, you can try it out too much. This will cause the acne to increase because you are causing the dead skin cells to break off and then go into the pores. This will block the pores and cause the sebaceous glands to get infected. This infection will cause an inflammation and this inflammation is the acne that you see.

The best possible solution for maintaining a clear complexion is to make sure that your diet does not consist of a lot of refined sugars, that you do not use drying agents on your face to keep your skin dry, and that you do not over wash your face on a regular basis. By also maintaining a level hormone level and of eliminating as much stress from your life as possible, you should see a dramatic change in the amount of acne that you have on your face. There are many myths about acne and you should do your due diligence and research before jumping to any radical solution.
